Prolog [Mu'tants] marks the beginning of L Twills' new work: The cybernetic sci-fi opera [After her Destruction] - to be released as a 2LP 3rd November 2023
In [After her Destruction] its protagonist Girl embarks on a journey through her own mind to find out whether it has mutated. The Art of Mind, a computer program Girl finds on the internet, makes it possible.
Within the 10 video chapters, Girl meets various characters and animals, such as the Mysterious Lady Without Name, the Lady‘s Lover, the Fortune Teller who travels through time, the Mutant, a Superego, an Albino Boa and her mother MOW. As Girl undergoes multiple epiphanies, such as discovering her own Schizo-Body, matrix translates as womb, time cannot be seen or touched, no one can possess beauty and some people are afraid of change, mutations eventually uncover as a portal to unknown territories of imagination.
On ‘Prolog [Mu’tants]’ rough edged sonic structures surround a pending voice singing about Girl's forthcoming journey –"You will go your way among dim shapes" – foreseeing that the search for love and freedom is imbued with unexpected challenges. Musically the three-minute track gives a hint of what to expect from the album: the merging of electronic, digital and acoustic realms and bewildering assemblages of granulated rhythms and landscapes that are carefully organized around Twill's expressive and intimate vocal ventures.
