about
[๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง] is not merely an album; blending multimedia art and pop-underground, L Twills presents a multi-faceted Gesamtkunstwerk with her sophomore release. Her exploration of voice and sound is an amalgamation of breakbeat, soundtrack, and avant-pop with sonic pioneering, resulting in an intimate yet urgent unearthing of feelings, energies and memories for which there are โno wordsโ.
The third single and fifth track on L Twills' upcoming double album, ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐: [๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ] creates an atmosphere of vulnerability and strength. A fast beating kick pushes the song forward, creating tempo, whilst the piano and synth elements follow a slower pace, opening a space for mourning and reflection. The lyrics of the song are dedicated to Girls mother MOW (Manic Old Woman). It talks about the fears and hopes involved in motherhood and the struggles related to depression, poverty and being a single mother. Work ideology as well as the stigmatization of poverty, illness and unemployment are a fundament of all capitalistic societies. In Germany there is a specific ideological understanding of normativity and obedience rooted in the country's fascist history and the invention of the socalled Asocials (Asoziale). It was used to discriminate all people that weren't Jewish, but would not fit the system's doctrine in other ways, like for example sex workers, homosexuals, people that weren't seen as "arian", communists, anarchists and neuro-diverse people. These values resurface in the contemporary time, when somone is, for one or another reason, falling out of what is understood as a normatively functioning and therefore obediently working human being.
๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐: [๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ] will be out 8th December 2023
lyrics
1. 1994, you getting depressed, its not the first time.
This child bringing back the feelings of your first days.
Harmed when you were just a baby,
itโs been 12410 days for you to get crazy.
Boon and bane it represents the future,
this child; your hope, your great adventure.
2. 1994, back in your home town. Your friends are resignated,
youโve been away too long. You wanna be strong, but
depression occupies your brain you cant do anything,
day and night, laying in your bed, what will the future bring?
Boon and bane it represents the future,
this child; your hope, your great adventure.
3. 1994, who was there for you?
They sayin, you should be thankful,
their forgiveness should be payed for.
They saying: its a free land, free to fight, free to kill and free to exploit.
But if you aint got money, they saying, you canโt decide.
The upper middle class prefers to keep buiseness quiet.
All these circumstances make you afraid and you drown.
